This system, will be monitoring not only the NOx emissions, but also the Ammonia slip, minimising it;<\/div><\/li><li><div><span class=\"icon icon-arrow-right8\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/div><div>The five engines, received also NOx enhanced components, and have undergone a full overall maintenance care (see certificates next slide);<\/div><\/li><li><div><span class=\"icon icon-arrow-right8\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/div><div>Operation performance digitalisation is being also deployed, connecting the vessel to shore;<\/div><\/li><li><div><span class=\"icon icon-arrow-right8\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/div><div>A new sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 650 m<sup>3<\/sup>\/day, is also being installed, approved for Baltic Sea operation, therefore compliant with MEPC.227(65) including section 4.2 nitrogen and phosphorus removal standard;<\/div><\/li><li><div><span class=\"icon icon-arrow-right8\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/div><div>A Slick hull paint will be applied, so that a reduction in consumption of 3% it is expected.<\/div><\/li><\/ul><div class='gap nz-clearfix' style='height:15px'>&nbsp;<\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner SHIP<\/h4><div class='gap nz-clearfix' style='height:15px'>&nbsp;<\/div><div style=\"\" class=\"nz-column-text nz-clearfix\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vasco da Gama\u00a0is a\u00a0cruise ship\u00a0owned by Portuguese company Mystic Invest. The vessel was completed in 1993, previously she sailed for\u00a0Holland America Line\u00a0as MS\u00a0\u201dStatendam\u201d, for\u00a0P&amp;O Cruises Australia\u00a0as\u00a0MS \u201cPacific Eden\u201d\u00a0and for Cruise &amp; Maritime Voyages as\u00a0MS \u201cVasco da Gama\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2020, following CMV&#8217;s filing for administration, she was sold by CW Kellock &amp; Co Ltd. at auction to Mystic Cruises parent company of Mystic Invest for US$10,187,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mystic Ocean invested in the vessel, either in the environmental and energy increased performances and digitalization, making this project a fantastic Circular Economy example applied to the shipping industry. By not scrapping, but reusing the vessel by updating it, by refurbishing the vessel to the highest comfort available on the market, therefore increasing the luxury of the vessel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An ambitious environmental updating plan for the vessel was put in place, to update it to the most stringent regulations, being docked in January 2021 at Lisnave Portugal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-4 vc_col-has-fill\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner vc_custom_1629467447148\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div style=\"\" class=\"nz-column-text nz-clearfix\"><span style=\"color: #003468;\"><b>Class and type: <\/b>S-class cruise ship<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #003468;\"><b>Tonnage:<\/b> 55,451 GT; 25 mph)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #003468;\"><b>Capacity:<\/b> 1,258 passengers<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #003468;\"><b>Crew:<\/b> 557<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div  class=\"nz-section horizontal animate-false full-width-true\"   data-animation-speed=\"35000\" data-parallax=\"false\" style=\"padding-bottom:30px;\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"nz-row\"><div class=\"col col12  col-animate-false\" data-align=\"left\" data-effect=\"fade-left\" ><div class=\"col-inner\" style=\"\"><h4 style=\"color: #003468;text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >KEY GOALS<\/h4><div class='gap nz-clearfix' style='height:15px'>&nbsp;<\/div><div style=\"\" class=\"nz-column-text nz-clearfix\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the objective of the following solutions, to reduce the atmospheric NOx emissions of the propulsion plant of the vessel to comply with TIER II or TIER III as defined by the MARPOL Annex VI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on the above-said limits, M\/S Vasco da Gama is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11.6 % below the TIER I limit, and 11.1 above the Norwegian Standards of Emissions. <\/span><span style=\"color: #003468;\"><strong>The vessel may operate as is, until 31<sup>st<\/sup> December 2021<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8.89 % above TIER II Limit. <\/span><span style=\"color: #003468;\"><strong>From 1<sup>st<\/sup> January 2022 until 31<sup>st<\/sup> December 2024<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">77.3 % above TIER III Limit. <\/span><span style=\"color: #003468;\"><strong>After 1<sup>st<\/sup> January 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water in Fuel emulsions can cope with the TIER II emissions limit, as its NOx potential reduction of the technology is about 20%, but only the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reaction) can reach TIER III.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div  class=\"nz-section horizontal animate-false full-width-true\"   data-animation-speed=\"35000\" data-parallax=\"false\" style=\"padding-bottom:30px;\"><div class=\"container\"><div class=\"nz-row\"><div class=\"col col12  col-animate-false\" data-align=\"left\" data-effect=\"fade-left\" ><div class=\"col-inner\" style=\"\"><h4 style=\"color: #003468;text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >CIRCULAR ECONOMY<\/h4><div class='gap nz-clearfix' style='height:15px'>&nbsp;<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"col col8  col-animate-false\" data-align=\"left\" data-effect=\"fade-left\" ><div class=\"col-inner\" style=\"\"><div style=\"\" class=\"nz-column-text nz-clearfix\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The present project is a novelty in terms of Circular Economy. The systems installed were capable of achieving NOx values well below the TIER III limit. All five catalysers are unique pieces, their design was made to achieve low NOx emissions while keeping the exhaust gas pressure drop to a minimum, and their operation controlled based on artificial intelligence, so that the five Selective Catalytic Reactors (SCR), are continuously optimised in terms of their individual performance to minimise the consumption of urea, and complying with future ammonia slip regulations. The results:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fuel efficiency increased 6%, accounting for a reduction of CO<\/span><sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emissions of about 6%.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">x<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emissions decreased 82%.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SO<\/span><sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/sub><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emissions decreased 81.5%.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"col col4  col-animate-false\" data-align=\"left\" data-effect=\"fade-left\" ><div class=\"col-inner\" style=\"\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE PROJECT&nbsp;The vessel is receiving five independent SCR (Selective Catalytic Reactors -
