TecnoVeritas engineering consultancy services were called on board the bunker vessel S. Jorge on the past 10th of March to perform the verification of alignment between one main engine and Schotel type propulsors.

The verification was successfully done by using special tools for laser alignment. This job was particularly demanding as the main engine is driving the propulsors via a cardan shaft, which calls for a particular procedure since, in this type of transmission, the main engine drive flange must stay absolutely parallel to the propulsor power intake flange. The figure shows the special tools used to perform the laser alignment.
