ABOUT FUEL CONDITIONING

 

Enermulsion is an inline fuel conditioning system based on ultrasound technology that processes fuels and water, producing engine load optimized water in fuel emulsions, therefore increasing fuel efficiency and reducing engine emissions and maintenance.

 

To address the urgent issues of escalating fuel prices and stricter emission restrictions, TecnoVeritas developed Enermulsion, an innovative solution designed to reduce exhaust emissions (NOx, SOx, CO2, VOCs, PM) while being able to reduce fuel consumption.

The installation of Enermulsion requires no modifications to the engines and no interruptions to the engine operation, as it is an automated inline system, also no additional tanks are required.

 

It is easy to install and operate. As described on the scheme, it requires minor intervention on the existing fuel system, and its operation is fully controlled by its Electronic Control.

EMULSION FUEL

 

An Emulsified Fuel in simple terms means a mixture of water in fuel oil in such a way that small particles (around 6 µm) of water are formed in the fuel oil to produce a stable water-in-fuel emulsion. The main purpose of doping fuel oil with small quantities of water (up to 30%) is to improve combustion efficiency and thus thermal efficiency, resulting in better specific fuel consumption.

 

NOx EMISSIONS REDUCTION PRINCIPLE

 

NOx formation depends highly on combustion temperature. Temperature reduction in the combustion chamber is achieved with the addition of extremely small water droplets coated with fuel oil (homogeneous water in fuel emulsion). By changing the percentage of water in the emulsion, the temperature inside the combustion chamber can be controlled to inhibit NOx formation and hence fuel economy.

NOx & PM Reduction

It is known that NOx and Particulate Matter has a tremendous impact on the environment and on human health, especially Particulate Matter that causes lung cancer. With Enermulsion NOx reduction can be achieved up to 30% and PM up to 80%.

 

Cleaner Engine

With a stable rate of fuel cracking and water molecule thermionic decomposition, resulting in a molecular rearrangement, the result is an improved fuel combustion. The water decomposition rate is continuously optimised to the engine load by Enermulsion’s control system.

CASE STUDY

MAKE FUEL SAVING NUMBERS TO SPEAK

 

1 | A POWER STATION

In an Indian power station with 18 Diesel Engines Wartsila 18V46, an Enermulsion unit was installed, to save fuel and reduce emissions.

2 | THE ENGINES

The engines constant load was 15.143 MW and the fuel consumption was 200 g/kWh. These engines were operated 7500 h/year, fuel consumption reduction was 4%.

3 | FUEL CONSUMPTION

Their fuel consumption (per engine) was 3028,6 kg/h, consuming 408 861 t/year. After installing Enermulsion their consumption was reduced by 16 355 t/year.

4 | THE RESULTS

In terms of finances, it resulted in savings of 6.86 million dollars. Also, the environment has benefited, receiving less 51 682 tCO2/year.
